Who is this woman?

Clare Plested is a critically acclaimed comedian, actress, writer and improviser.

Think Poundland version of Sally Hawkins.

Clare was in the BBC Writersroom Comedy 20/21 was short listed for the Funny Women Comedy Writing Awards supported by Sky Studios 2022; long listed for the ERA5050 TellHerVision Project; long listed for the BBC Caroline Aherne Bursary Award and long listed for UKTV and Female Pilot Club Comedy Pilot.

Clare trained in long-form improv with The Free Association, UCB, Groundlings and iO. She is a member of The Free Association’s house team, The 838 and long-form improv groups The Committee, Do Not Adjust Your Stage and Ladies of FA County. Clare performs improv across London, the UK, at the UCB Theatre in New York and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

 

Clare has written and performed 3 critically acclaimed one-woman character comedy shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival - 'Flock Up', 'The Essential Collection' and 'Vegas, Jesus and Me'.

With writing partners Adam Brown and Amanda Wilsher she co-wrote 7 Arts Council funded comedy shows that toured both nationally and internationally. 

​

Plested and Brown are currently commissioned to write Pantomime for the Newbury Corn Exchange and Salisbury Playhouse . Their musical, THE PERFECT WIFE is currently in development.

 

Clare's never featured in a Mike Leigh film but can be found in Poundland.
